Lenapehoking Lodge - Unit OA Elections
The Order of the Arrow is a youth run organization, sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America. The purposes of the Order are to recognize those campers– Scouts and Scouters – who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their everyday lives and, by such recognition, cause other campers to conduct themselves in such a manner as to warrant recognition; to develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit; to promote Scout camping, which reaches its greatest effectiveness as a part of a unit’s camping program, both year-round and in a summer camp; and, to crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.
Eligibility into the Order of the Arrow is restricted to those scouts who complete the following requirements:
• Scout must be a registered Boy Scout.
• Scout must hold minimum rank of First Class.
• After registration with a troop or team have experienced 15 days & nights of Boy Scout camping during the two year period prior to the election. The 15 days and nights must consist of one, but no more than one, long term camp consisting of 6 consecutive days and 5 nights of resident camping, approved and under the auspices & standards of the Boy Scouts of America. The balance of the camping must be overnight, weekend, or other short term camps.

Lenapehoking Lodge IX and its three chapters anticipate a great elections season, in which we hope to provide an Order of the Arrow election to every troop that requests one. Our chapters are an integral part of our lodge, and each administers their own unit elections, camp promotions, and OA Troop/Crew Representative programs for their respective districts. This year, through the chapters, our lodge and the Order of the Arrow promise to be more involved in all district and council functions to better serve all Scouting units.
The election season ends on May 1, 2016. Due to the vast area that our council serves, we ask that requests for an election be done online.
Troops are not permitted to hold their own elections.
Our lodge hosts many fun and worthwhile events for the Arrowmen throughout Northern NJ Council, aside from the three Ordeal weekends. Even if you are not a member of the Order of the Arrow, we ask that you support our organization, and encourage the members of your troop who are to get involved and start coming to more lodge functions.
