Campmasters select their own time and frequency of service, we ask for a few weekends a year, but many Campmasters choose to make themselves available far more frequently. Campmasters are selected to serve on the basis of their ability in several areas: outdoor skills, knowledge of the flora and fauna around Camp Lewis, and their Leadership and Organizational skills.

All Campmasters have a demonstrated ability to get along well with a diverse population, to lead effectively, and to take swift and appropriate action in the event of an emergency. Campmasters also have a working knowledge of troop and team operations, Scout advancement, and Cub Scout camping.

There's one final requirement to becoming a Campmaster: You must love Camp Lewis and be passionate about it's year-round program.
