So how do you get trained? What Makes a Trained Leader? Cub Scout leaders and their assistants are considered trained when they have completed New Leader Essentials and Cub Scout Leader Specific training for their position. (5 separate courses)  | Tiger Cub Leader (and assistants) |  | Wolf / Bear Den Leader (and assistants) |  | Webelos Den Leader (and assistants) |  | Cubmaster |  | Pack Committee | Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters are considered trained when they have completed New Leader Essentials, and Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills. Troop committee members are considered trained when they have completed New Leader Essentials and Troop Committee Challenge as their Leader Specific training. Venturing crew Advisors, assistant Advisors, and crew committee members are considered trained when they have completed New Leader Essentials and Venturing Leader Specific Training. Training opportunities will become available to scouts and scouters. Our training page will keep you posted with upcoming training sessions and important information to help you keep up with your Scouting skills. Because the Boy Scouts of America continues to place a major emphasis on the training of new leaders as they assume their responsibilities, we will continue to seek the most effective ways to train leaders so that they can deliver a quality program to youth. Additional information about training coursesYou can attend this training in any district or at the council level. Check the calendars to determine when the next course is being offered. Introduction to Outdoor Skills, and Venturing Leader Specific Training are offered ONLY at the Council level. BALOO or Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation is a course for adults in the Cub Scout Program. While it is not required for all leaders, it is strongly recommended for all. It is required that any Pack that camps MUST have at least one BALOO trained adult present on the camping trip. This course is offered throughout the year at the Council level.
