2018 Ordeal Candidate Registration

This page is for:

  • Youth (under 21) Ordeal Candidates elected by their troop during the 2018 unit election season.  The election must have been scheduled through and conducted by the local Chapter (each District corresponds to a Chapter).
  • Adults (21 and over) are nominated to be Ordeal Candidates by their troop committee or if a district Scouter by an appropriate district volunteer or professional,  Because the Order is a youth organization adult nominations DO NOT result in automatic candidacy.  Nominations are reviewed by the Lodge Adult Selection Committee to determine if the adult's membership will help fulfill the purpose of the Order.  If approved the nominee is invited to be an Ordeal Candidate.  You cannot register as an adult candidate until you have received this invitation.  All nominations for 2018 were done online so there is no chance to paperwork to go astray.  For more information on the Adult Candidate process read the Adult Nomination Procedures or contact Lodge Adviser Chris Ceravolo (lodgeadviser@oaix.nnjbsa.org).

In order to become a member you must register for (click on button at bottom of page) and attend one of the following induction weekends

  • May 4 - 6, 2018 at Camp Turrell

  • June 1 - 3, 2018 at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco

  • September 21 - 23, 2018 at Camp Lewis

If you do not register for and attend one of the above weekends your candidacy expires and you must be re-elected in a future year

Check in time at each of the above events is 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and you must stay for the entire weekend (through Sunday morning at 10:00 AM).  Plan for the possibility of significant traffic to each of our camps on a Friday night.

You must bring with you a current copy of Parts A & B of your BSA Annual Health and Medical Record.  If you are under 18 your parent or guardian must have signed the form in the appropriate locations.

The list of what to bring is included in the Welcome Package you received from the chapter election team when you were elected.  Links to that document, to the Code of Conduct for IX Events, and to a Frequently Asked Questions Document are provided below.
